What is your location? If it is from where the game is still not launched, you might get that error.

Also make sure you are downloading the apk file from trusted sources and the apk file is up to date.

Windows Can not open .apk files because APK files are meant for android. If you want to open an APK file on windows you must get a android emulator such as BlueStacks.

If this situation is happening because you received and app by email, there may be a workaround. I have found that if I ‘download’ the app as the email program suggests, then I get this error. However if I click on it, it installs without a problem. Something to try…

I’m running a quad core 16gb ainovo Numy 3g sword with a 32gb micro SD card on Android 4.2.2, I always come up against package parsing problems when trying to install external to Google play downloaded apk’s. I have problems downloading updates from Google play, whatsapp latest being my recent headache. I always check the unknown source box when setting up a new device but this doesn’t help. I have found in the past that a copy paste from pm downloaded apps to my phone through a data connection helps, but it’s a lot of faffing about to do so. I shouldn’t have to do so with my mobile device being fairly recent (less than 18months old).

Perhaps an update to Android 5.0 will help clear this problem, as I’ve read it allows more finer control over your device’s storage methods?

2ndary problem….. Why the hell is my phone filling up so fast when I have the SD card storage option checked for my downloads. I have a 32gb external SD card and it’s not utilising it as I want it to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated… Thanks!

My Note 3 tries to update Samsung Apps store, it downloads the necessary file by itself but when it comes to installation, parse message appears. I have allowed unknown sources. And if it wasn’t compatible then why would it try to update? Please help.

he . its not the solution i think .. the main problem of almost all is to root their phone .. rooting your phone will give the solution i hope

Not all users have Rooted Phone so that is not the Solution here, Above listed are the main solution to this problem of parsing error in Android But thanks for your Comment.

Did not work on my Samsung Galaxy S 1 (old but useful)
Every app I got from my PC didn’t work. If I get an app from the Browser “Error parsing package”…

Do you mean you, you download .apk files on your PC and then Paste those on your Samsung galaxy to install in it ?

I am running the latest stable carbon rom on my sprint galaxy s3. All of my .apks stored on my sdcard are giving me this error and all of the settings are correct. Even new apps from G play are acting up, but aren’t giving the message.
I recently encrypted the phone, which has caused many problems that I have worked through. I assume the parsing error is from this. Have you heard of anything like that before?

    • Reply jigar Tank September 6, 2014 at 10:40 pm

Hi Austin, its strange and i have not heard of this Earlier, But now i know and you have your answer itself, Redownloading the Apks is the only option i can see.
